Boarding and Day Places at 11, 13 and Sixth Form

Drama in the OctagonNormal entry to Christ’s Hospital is at age 11 (Year 7) and age 13 (Year 9) and then into the Sixth Form. Occasionally we can admit children into Year 8 or 10 provided there is a place available. Any child so admitted would be assessed to ensure academic compatibility. The Admissions Office will be able to advise whether any places are available when the initial enquiry is made.

Places are academically selective and are offered on the basis of competitive exams. Scholarships are also available and are awarded as a result of particular success in our assessments.

In order to avoid disappointment, you ideally need to begin the search for a school and the application process at least eighteen months before your child is due to join Christ’s Hospital.

Bursaries

The Christ's Hospital Foundation provides more bursarial support than any other independent boarding school with up to 100% support primarily to children of families in financial or other need.

If your income falls below a certain level, you may be assessed for a bursary. Bursaries are means-tested and families on very low incomes may be assisted with the cost of pocket money and House Funds. If you wish to apply for a bursary, please contact Admissions.

Day pupils in receipt of a scholarship may apply for top-up bursary assistance but are not otherwise eligible for bursarial support.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded for academic excellence and, separately, for music, art, drama and sport. For more details see Scholarships.
