2011 Exams Success

A Level Results:

• Christ’s Hospital has been placed in The Times Top 50 Co-educational Independent Schools for A Level results.
• Over 80% of all grades were A*-B and almost a third of the students achieved straight A or A* grades. 
• Almost all pupils gained places at top UK universities, including 14 who will take up places at Oxford or Cambridge.
• Art – Xenia Bond gained a coveted D1 (higher than A*) grade for Art in the new Cambridge pre-U exam.
• Music – twins Adam and Robert Mathias were awarded Organ and Choral Scholarships respectively at Cambridge.

GCSE Results:

• Christ’s Hospital pupils achieved impressive GCSE results this year with 70% at A* or A grade, far in excess of the national average. 
• 18 pupils obtained all A* or A grades, with  Francis Scarr and Alice Greenwood achieving a clean sweep of 12 A* grades.  
• More than half of the cohort took separate sciences, (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) achieving  97% A or A* grades.
• Nearly all entries (91%) were at A*, A or B grade and results  in the more rigorous IGCSE examinations which pupils take in Geography, Maths and ICT were very strong.

Head Master, John Franklin, congratulated the students and their teachers on these fine results, adding, “Christ’s Hospital has been working hard in recent years to raise the academic bar even higher and it is gratifying to see that these efforts, along with the obvious ability and hard work of the students, have paid off so handsomely.”
